[21:26] Separement - Day 5
A sleep in! Didn't get up until 0815 (woke up and 1240 and I went and slept with him). After a slight wardrobe malfunction (I wondered why it was proving so difficult to get him in there)

How not to put on your trousers
We continued on with Operation Cleanup and hit bedrock in both bedrooms, victory! Celebrated with Cheerios and half an allegedly Australian yoghurt (I remain somewhat baffled by the claim of having a "naturally smooth and creamy Australian-style texture" but, it tastes good so whatever) for breakfast then we headed out to the library. Gabe has been participating in the Mountain View Library's Make a splash summer reading program [PDF] (Why MTV public library? Why all the PDFs???) and today was the end of the program so we went in to collect his prize. The prizes were a selection of books purchased by the Friends of the Mountain View Library and we ended up picking the beautifully illustrated The Classic Treasury of Aesop's Fables. We also borrowed all the available Trucktown series by the unpronouncable Jon Scieszka. A friend tipped us off to the existence of the series and gave us Uh-Oh Max which became Gabe's new favourite book (he's been reading it on the potty). We headed home and had lunch, alfredo pasta again (the gift that keeps on giving) as well as the rest of the yoghurt from breakfast and 8 lychees. Hit the sack and was asleep by 1300.

Woke up at 1415 and didn't want to go back to sleep so we read a few books and briefly talked to Shona - Gabe got a little upset that he could hear her but couldn't see her but he was excited to see her tomorrow. We headed out to see Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, it had an OK pre-feature Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoon and what I thought was a hilarious James Bond opening-credit spoof for the feature. The theme song is Get the Party Started by Pink but sung by the amazing Shirley Bassey (it turns out that she recorded the song for a spy-themed 2006 Marks & Spencer Christmas television advertising campaign, not the movie. Nonetheless, the visuals that accompanied the tune were great). Gabe made it through exactly one hour of the film itself before he discovered that, due to then gently sloping floor, he could roll his water bottle all the way down the aisle to the curtains at the front of the theatre. This wasn't so much a problem as was the somewhat raucous giggling that ensued when he went to retrieve it and got "stuck" in the curtains. The film looked OK from what we saw of it, nothing super special but it had some amusing one-liners.

We headed to Thaddeus Park to get a bit of exercise and we met Liam and Megan there. Since the stew had run out we decided to go to Tapatios for dinner with Brian, Megan and Liam. The boys had fun with each other and another family with a gajillion children, Gabe in particular seemed to hit it off with one of the little girls and they spent a while contemplating the universe together.
Gabe and unknown girl, lost in contemplation
After we got home Gabe headed straight for his high-chair so, being the super-clued-in Dad that I am, I deduced that he was still hungry. Had some lychees and yoghurt and a glass of milk then headed for bed. Asleep by 2100.
